Of course a pensioned civil servants can't retain access to state secrets, that not the focus. The real question would be "why on earth would any responsible senato or congressman dream of running such risks?" This debate seems specially astounding in light of how difficult it evidently has become for house oversight to obtain the basic information needed just to attempt fulfilling their assigned tasks... There seems to be an impenetrable mental wall between vauge, unfounded habits running unchecked in one lane and aimless, boisterous talk flooding the other! Take stock of both lanes. See what's actually going on! It's not all that complicated: What's oversight overseeing, if they're less informed than former directors? Still, this is the factual case. Why wouldn't we address the real problems directly and solve them as they appear? Why would anyone wish to postpone rectifications necessary to stay on top? The military wouldn't dream of acting like that. No private business would expose itself so. Why would government? Who benefit from sloppy tardiness?
