I disagree with Nunes on one point: I don't think the coup-attempt was brilliant at all! To me it seemed transparent and clumsy from the get go, easily unraveled, and I thought the conservatives were asleep at the wheel, since they didn't react decisively immediately. I don't know, perhaps it's simply a problem of being unable to fathom how reckless and cynical the leading dems really are, but I also don't consider the ability to "not break ranks" an accomplishment by democrats at all. I believe it's due to a hive-culture laced with omertà, fear of exposure for systematic transgressions and a stupid belief that to be smart means to be a good liar.
