What makes an emperor want to expand his empire and extend his time? Their notes tell the story of dangers, hardship and burdens of ever increasing responsibilities.
We assume they feel entitled or obligated or both, but how come?
We call the driving force "ambition", but does that really explain anything? Perhaps they have a sense of what's fated?
We may label them egomaniacs, but is it really all that simple?
And one more thing: What did they accomplish in the long run – King Tut, Alexander, Caesar, Djengis, Knut, Hitler, Churchill, Roosevelt, JFK, Trump – if anything?
Did they have a sense of chaotic disorder and think themselves best suited to restore order? Heroes?
What would Hannibal and Scipio answer? https://youtu.be/2QEVbQH1ZRg
