There was also an impact in Sweden in late Devonian about the same size as the one in Western Australia!

2:50 Np-no! The funneling of the tsunami certainly doesn’t „reduce“ the hight of it, on the contrary. It raises it, same as waves increase in height in the shallows near shore where kinetic energy is converted to potential energy and is only dispersed when the wavefront crashes in a place where the energy can be fully dispersed as friction.

@OzGeologyOfficial So when you talk about the diminishment in power at 2:42 that’s solely from „smashing into the cliffs“? But in the same context of reducing power you mention funneling without mentioning how this increases height, opening for misunderstanding, I think…

I gets incredibly annoying listening to you trying to shout over the inane muzak! Just loose it, please, what is it there for?

@OzGeologyOfficial Sigh*

I do think you’re on the track of dating some of the most significant deluges affecting human history and development. But much work and patience will be needed, still. A careful timing, tracking and estimation of all major meteor impacts must be developed and models built (virtual or actual) to map the spreading of the waves. Maybe you can join forces with Bright Insight?

Are we absolutely certain there was an ocean when the super volcano erupted?

9:40 There’s 3 ovals with a center cone, I think. The 3rd is smoother and touches shore. Perhaps this one hit the very beach. Could the very unique Greece archipelago actually be shaped by several high-density impacts, able to throw bedrock in plasma state east-northeast of the impacts to harden on water contact in these ragged shapes?
