  1.  @cyan_oxy6734  You cannot simply close down all US bases in nations that are dependent on those bases for economics. There are towns in Germany that if the US bases withdraw, they are done. Europe allowed itself to become wholly dependent on the US Defense Strategy visa vie NATO. The US by right after saving Europe's arse in WW1, WW2 and the Cold War has a right to be there as it was Europe that pleaded for the the US to become entangled in European Affairs and not the other way around. Up to the Balkan Conflict, it was the US that brokere that cease-fire by forcing Serbia into negotiations - again, where was Europe then? Under the Bush and Obama Administrations, Europe was told to beef up their defenses, but to no avail. Now look where they are. The EU for example has NO BUSINESS involved in defense issues or wars. The EU was not designed to fill in for NATO or any defense posturing - the EU is an economic organization primarily based on intertwining the economies of EU members for trade - Why Ursula Von Der Leyden is trapsing around like a 4 star General at defense meetings is beyond me as she's no head of state, no president, premier, prime-minister or chancellor of ANY nation let alone an equivalent to a Secretary of State or Defense. She is however in the US equivalent to the Secretay of Commerce as well as in the UK for Secretary of Commerce and Trade; she is an ADVISOR to the heads of state for economic/trade issues - not for war and defense positioning. This was made clear to her when she visited Africa and was ignored by Uganda's PM, also in Turkey with President Erdogan and in China where the Chinese Premier basically sent her to his Finance Minister for further discussions - the Chinese Premier was 100% correct - if a head of state wants to discuss issues with his/her's equal, they talk directly and not to some EU President for Economic Affairs. What's really odd is that Von Der Leyden WAS the former Secretary of Defense for Germany and during her tenure there, she increased the defense budge by ZERO Percent - that's right...ZERO. She should be the last one screaming about a United Europe to militarily assist the Ukraine, one would think. Turkey has been held back from joining the EU by Germany and France - they cite "Human Rights" violations as the cuase. What's rather hypocritical are the Human Rights Violations against the Roma in Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, who have seen and continue to see some of the worst human rights violations - yet all 3 nations were quickly allowed to join the EU - go figure. The real reason why Germany and France don't want Turkey in the EU is of Turkey's population (comparable to Germany 85 million) the Turkish GDP as the 6th largest in Europe and it's military being only 2nd to the USA in NATO; nicely armed and trained. By the inclusion of Turkey, Germany and France would be forced to share power in the EU by voice and budget which neither nation wants and that's the REAL reason Turkey is not in the EU today. However, the EU and Germany in particular have no issue of the 400,000 Turkish immigrants in Berlin alone, and over 3 million i Germany mainly doing jobs that the average German won't do. Currently the majority of immigrants (not refugees), in Germany are from those countries (Bulgaria, Romania, North Macedonia, and countries of the former Yugoslavia) who's young skilled labor force leave to Germany thus depleting their own nation's workforce. In short, Germany is the financial and economic master of the EU - if Germany ever were to quit the the EU, the EU would cease to exist in a month. Not much of a union now is it? Yet Germany, the World's 4th largest GDP spends less than 2% of its budget on defense but is angry along with the rest of EU and NATO countries that the US, who has repeatedly informed them to invest more in defense,is to blame??? The Ukraine is vulnerable, not by the fault of the USA, but by the fault of European nation's indecisive actions since 2014 when Russia invaded the Crimea. Where has Europe been since then? Oh yes, waiting for Uncle Sam to handle those affairs instead of their own. Who lost? The Ukraine as it has to pay for peace. Russia too, although many don't want to see it, has also lost as it didn't achieve it's initial goal - the incorporation of the Ukraine back into Russia. Furthermore Russia lost two neighbors to NATO and is now flanked by NATO from Finland to the Baltics and Turkey to the south; not a good place to be if a conventional war ever broke out. I guess we'll have to wait and see what will happen next. It's all about business and the average citizen bears the brunt of the mighty.
