@moif_velocita and you need to grow up and realize that there is not a United States of Europe!
The EEC worked well until the EU became politicized. What a Union! Germany can quit and the whole damn structure collapses - you call that a union?
If the EU is so good, why hasn’t Switzerland and Norway joined? They’re the richest countries in Europe, yet made sure they didn’t go to Brussels? Monaco? No EU, Lichtenstein? No.
Why not let Turkey join? Human Rights? Ha! The Balkans also have bad Human Rights track records - the real reason is that both Germany and France don’t want to share the power - both in population and purchasing GDP Power Turkey has. That’s the real reason. How’s Greece coming along with those austerity measures? Their young workforce is still leaving and heading to central and Northern Europe along with Bulgarians, Romanians, Albanians and Moldavians. This wasn’t an issue under the old EEC as it specifically addressed the trade and economic partnerships, not political. Van Der Leyden is NOT a premier, President or chancellor of ANY nation - she’s nothing more than a president of a European Union (run by Germany what a coincidence how she got there), based on economical matters - she seems to forget that. She found out in Russia, China, the Middle East and Turkey, that she’s not on a nation’s leadership level - she got put in her place real fast as should be. Her position as e ample, is equivalent to the Director of Commerce in the US - she is certainly not on a Presidential level. Lastly, besides easy travel and employment mobility among the EU nations, what has the EU achieved? The EU GDP if far behind the US and China; most EU states are near bankrupt or breaking even, illegal migration still uncontrolled, spiked crime waves, inflation reaching above that in the USA, low pay and wages causing an unbalanced economic migration within the EU and certainly ill prepared for helping each other in man made or natural disasters - Covid being the biggest by receiving outside help. Whatever happened to the idea of an EU joint Military? Guess NATO under the US remains the better oh sorry I mean the cheaper option😂 - I have lived through both and the EEC knew it’s place and functioned - the EU, no.
