@americandreamisover9658 Keep dreaming -- NATO is far more of an economical structure for countries like the UK and Germany than a defensive one. The USA will not have a repeat of WW1, 2 and possible 3 without having a military presence in Europe. Europeans for whatever reason, cannot achieve peace on their continent without a foreign power overlooking or presenting itself with the confines of the continent. The only winner in WW2 was the Americans - an outside country coming in and constructing the European continent with the exception of former Warsaw Pact nations and Russia -and eventually they all fell apart. Russia lost 22 million people in WW2 and only could create a buffer zone (Warsaw Pact countries) which eventually fell apart as Russia didn't have the monetary means to continue the Cold War. Do you know how much money the US military presence pumps into the economy of Germany, UK, Italy, Greece, Netherlands. Belgium, and now most former Warsaw Pact nations? For example the Base or Post Exchange (Shopping center) at the Kaiserslautern Military Community/Ramstein Air Base makes more revenue than all the Post exchanges combined in the USA - do you know how many Germans are employed there? The same in the UK and other nations. You do realize that since it's birth NATO has always been led by an AMERICAN General - do you think that's a coincidence? The EU trying to build it's own military is a laugh - no French General is going to be able to command a German, Italian, Dutch, UK, Norwegian or other country's military and vice verse -- Europe lacks the homogony and exudes too many cultural and economical differences to create a combined force -- the EU struggles every day to maintain it's position from a country that itself has no central government and itself is literally split in 3 factions (Belgium). Europe still relies on the USA's GPS system - why is that? Europe has the European Space Agency, a first rate organization but who will fund it - what percentage will go to what country, who will repair it and at what costs? Europeans are too distinct and independent to sing cumbia hence the UK leaving the EU. The Ukraine issue of one of past expectations that neither camp could have foreseen. Russia is concerned that it's borders are surrounded by NATO countries - too late. Russia will not tolerate the Ukraine to also go "Nato" - understandable. Unfortunately, Ukraine is a sovereign nation and it decides what course of action to take for the betterment of it's population - Russia has to understand that. In reality, the Ukraine doesn't need to go NATO or EU - it will be supplied by the west economically and militarily regardless of Russia's opinion - that's reality. I can certainly understand Putin's concern, but his concern will be overridden by the mere fact of economics and trade - The Ukraine will eventually be armed to the teeth and in the European camp whether in Nato/EU or not.

@tsugumorihoney2288 Operation Barbarossa started on June and within 6 weeks (Aug 15) the German Wehrmacht was already 1/2 way to Moscow. Hitler ordered his military to move south and capture Kiev -- Moscow was not his priority - had it been, Moscow would have fallen in early September. Secondly, the USA began to furnish Russia with supplies/equipment and finances beginning of January 1943, one month after the declaration of war due to Pearl Harbor in Dec 1942. Third, in January of 1944, the Wehrmacht held all territories south of Leningrad which was besieged from Sept 1941 until 27 Jan 44 - all lands south and west of Leningrad (present day Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine and to Rostov. So in short Russian territory was occupied from Jun 41 to Jun 44 when D-Day commenced. Without the American invasion in the West, Hitler would have been able to commit 100% of the Wehrmacht's resources in the East and Russia would have fallen behind the Urals. The only nonsense here is your delusional belief that without the allied second front, Russia would have won against Germany - sorry but no. Next time, don't let your pride write your comments, research, have a bowl of borscht and then come back to me when have facts, not pride.

@PropagandasaurusRex You don't frankly careless, yet you continue to write to me - what an idiot. Small dick? No little man, that would be you with that little Vienna sausage of yours. Seriously, you're so stupid that you'd state at a bottle of orange juice, simply because it's labeled
"concentrate." 😁😁😁😁 Have you earned your PhD yet? I have a while back; I served my country, worked as a civil servant in NATO and know more about Political Science than you ever will. I bet that by the time you reached the 7th grade, you were older than all of your teachers🤣🤣😂😂
Let me give you some advice: Sometimes its better to say nothing at all and let people think you're ignorant and uneducated, rather than open your mouth (like you did) and prove to everyone that you really are that ignorant and uneducated - great job, well done😋😋 Run along now, my little Mikhail,,,, you're done here.

@cnccarving No we wouldn't as US Radar Technology is FAR more advanced than what Russia had then and has now. Secondly, KAL 007 did fly into Russian Air Space over Sakhalin Island but Russian radar couldn't distingush KAL 007 from a US KC-135 Spy Plane that was flying in international waters near the Japanese Island of Hokkaido (Misawa AB) - that's how bad their radars were then. The USSR Pilot shot down the KAL 007 for two reasons - one the radar clutter of the Russian defense system couldn't distinguish between the two planes many distance apart and that months before, Mathias Rust (German Pilot) landed his Cessna in Red Square which not only showed that the Soviet Air Force wasn't well advanced, but it's ABM missile systems covering Moscow had serious setbacks as well. The USSR's old Command couldn't afford another "intrusion" of it's airspace giving the World a real glimpse of it's defensive drawbacks in technology and ordered the "plane" to be shot down. KAL 007 was a political victim based on weak Soviet Technology and cold war tactics used by the USA and it's allies.
We are now seeing the Ukraine War playing out in bad ways in which political figures on both sides are maneuvering around at the expense of both average Ukraine/Russian citizens alike.
To this date, both countries (USA/Russia) fly on the peripheral international waters off each other's coast as long as I have been born - that will not change nor it is an "alarm code red." I can however, assure you that the US Defense Systems are far more advanced that Russia's and have always been. Since the disintegration of the USSR in 1989, Putin has been trying to "upgrade" Russia to it's previous position - that's not going to happen as China has surpassed Russia in all areas of Defense - in short, Russia is a regional power but no longer the superlative power she once was. Outside of Nuclear War - which is a paper tiger as it's self-destruction and in particular with an opponent who is on "nuclear-equality" with a nation that is threatening nuclear war (in this case Russia), it's simply suicide - Putin knows this - he's not dumb. Unfortunately, Putin has placed himself into a corner when he attacked the Ukraine, by trying to establish the former USSR's geographical boundaries that no longer exist. The nation's that used to be satellite countries of the former USSR are all in NATO now - that was THEIR choice - plain and simple. Putin's provocations has done nothing but cause upheaval in the border areas and made Sweden/Finland join NATO - not what he was expecting. It would be nice if a peaceful solution could be found, but as long as Putin threatens and cries Wolf, he will bury himself deeper into a hole as NATO can match Russia and overwhelm it by both military, financial and economical means for a LONG time bleeding Russia's military dry and drying up it's financial means to wage a regional conflict. China has already told Putin there will be no involvement from them as their focus is more worth in economical trade with the USA their largest partner - even the warmongering with Taiwan has ceased as China knows, it will bring about nothing in the end. Personally, war is profit and it has always been --- it's always the poor average person of each country that suffers.

@kindface You can beg all you want - you're certainly entitled to your opinion, however wrong it might be. Macron's visit to China with EU Commissioner Von Der Leyden and most recently the Foreign Minister for Germany brought ZERO results on Beijing's position in relations to the Ukraine War and trade agreements. China didn't accept Macron's position about representing Europe as a whole while Paris is burning and riots abound in all of France - simply put, if Xi Jinping wanted to know Spain's position on any matters, he'd speak directly to Spain's current leader Pedro Sanchez directly, not the French President or Germany's Foreign Minister. As EU Commissioner Von Der Leyen's job is to promote, foster and regulate executive powers in policies such as competition and external trade - NOT military positions of EU Nations nor lecture China on it's strategic position of foreign affairs - in short, she was out of her element as well. She is, at most, equivalent to China's Financial Minister Liu Kun who deals directly with other nation's financial ministers; Von Der Leyen's position is advisor at best - she cannot speak for any nation's foreign minister; only as the EU Advisor and certainly is not at the same level of a nation's president or premier and that includes Germany's Foreign Minister Barebock as well - her Chinese counterpart is Quin Gang - get the picture? As I said earlier, China didn't change it's stance regarding the visits whatsoever...I wonder why? In short, China will not be "lectured to" by an EU Advisor, a German Foreign Minister who has ZERO knowledge of Foreign Affairs (Please google her) and EU Advisor (Formerly failed Defense Minster of Germany, please google her as well),and a French President who doesn't represent any other nation except his own and barely was elected in the last election of his nation - please google French riots and you'll see exactly how popular he is in his own country at the moment - he has the nerve to tell China about it's position in Global affairs while his own country is rioting over HIS early retirement reforms?? Talk about hypocrisy at it's finest - as of today, China has not supported Russia in the Ukraine with either financial or military aid nor has it renounced Russia's position
Lastly, you assume my country of residence or origin is "Liberal." Tell me kind Sir, what country do I reside in or am of origin? Be careful what you assume - you just might make yourself look foolish....again.

@angryhusky2467 Sorry, but no. The World's GDP does not rely on BITCOIN as one might think. The World Bank is controlled by the West (US in particular) and the state of California alone has a bigger GDP than Russia -- that tells you all you need to know of the might of the US economy which accounts for 25% of the World's GDP and China coming in at 2nd with 14.8% - Russia isn't on that mark and falls behind Canada at number 11 - BITCOIN isn't going to make a dent in those figures.
You are correct, Russia has a great base for research/technology. However, they lag behind the US, China, Japan, Germany, South Korea, UK and France -- all allies to the USA with the exception of China who relies on the US for it's GDP status. Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia is no longer the superlative power that it once was. It's military, although highly trained, has shrunk, it's manufacturing base centralized and it's economy more reliant on outside nations than before. Russia is having difficulty in Syria keeping it's 13,000 troops fed and housed and is trying to extricate itself from the Syrain civil war which is still ongoing while the US Central Command has over 80,000 troops in the following countries combined: Saudi Arabia, Israel, Iraq, Kuwait, Doha, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Egypt. In short, Russia is no longer a global power. In short, Russian military conflict in the Ukraine better be a short one as a prolonged war will see Russia to it's knees in a matter of a year -- the technological and military advantages of NATO, allied members and the US is far too great of a defense for Russia to wage a prolonged war in the Ukraine. China and Russia's mutual economical pact is based on tricky logic. China has overtaken Russia as the 2nd military power while Russia will not share it's technology with it's so called mutual partner such as the S-400 system which China wants badly. These two share a rocky border relationship and have both lost cooperation pacts with Mongolia who has chosen to get support from the West.
China is loved by no one in the World - it knows this and has to overtake on an economical level which it enjoys - a military battle with the US is not to China's liking and strategically its a loss to China. Russia is trying to restore it's old position with little to no success as Putin doesn't have the resources to reestablish a "soviet union."
