@attsealevel On the flipside he underestimates the tesla battery weight because he's using specs for the wrong battery. He's using 4680 specs, whereas Elon confirmed the semi will not use 4680 batteries. Most likely, the semi is using a 2170 battery, making the battery weigh about 4 Metric tonnes.

@EngineeringExplained Mistake in the video: You're using energy density figures for the 4680 battery. Elon Musk has already confirmed the Semi will not be using the 4680 battery. Most likely, the semi will be using the 2170 battery. A generous estimate of this battery's energy density is about 250wh/kg. I've taken this figure from your own source. This obviously increases the battery weight substantially, suggesting a minimum weight of 4 metric tonnes. PS: We should also note that the 4680 battery energy density is as yet unconfirmed with independent testing suggesting it may actually have a lower density than the 2170. The primary benefit of the 4680 battery appears to be a lowered manufacturing cost.
