THE PAST?! Lol the graph is highly misleading today. The US has the highest rate of CO2 emissions per capita right now. It's not even a comparison. They're literally doubling China's numbers. The graph only makes China looks worse by comparing by geographic expanse instead of by population. How're you going to compare the amount of pollution generated by 1.3 billion people to the amount of pollution generated by 0.3 billion? If my family of 10 generates twice the garbage that your family of 2 generates, you are actually the biggest polluter. To be fairly compared the graph should have combined the US, Canada, and Europe as a single group and then compared their emissions to China.

You're downplaying the issue. Jansen had no disease prevention division prior to its 2011 merger with the Dutch company Crucell. Even Crucell was a Swiss, US and Dutch conglomerate. Development of COVID vaccine was an by international effort with many companies and individuals more responsible than the incredibly thin connection the video is trying to force with Belgian colonialism. Comes off as thinly veiled nostalgic racism.

@El Dimos Karam We've had definitive evidence for at least 40 years. We suspected for at least 60 years and we've known that humans can damage local climates and environments through pollution since like the 1800s. The US has been actively fighting global climate change legislation in the 2000s. More CO2 has been dumped into the environment between 1950-2020 than from the beginning of human existence to 1950. We're not blaming Industrial Revolution era Europeans and Americans who didn't know any better. They hardly made any contribution to CO2. But in the 20th and 21st centuries they don't really have the excuse of not knowing that they were damaging the environment.

So, this is a load of garbage. His logic is as follows: STEP 1: Belgian colonialism creates the ITM (1906). STEP 2: Some of the researchers who graduated from the ITM worked for Jansen. STEP 3: Johnson & Johnson bought Jansen. STEP 4: Johnson & Johnson created a COVID vaccine. (2020) Therefore Belgian Colonialism brought us the COVID vaccine. Except... Before 2011 Jansen had no disease prevention department. The COVID vaccine was created by a Dutch company that was also purchased by Johnson & Johnson called Crucell. Crucell itself was a conglomerate of Swiss, American, and Dutch companies. This is a very shaky connection at best. You have to ignore a ton of other companies and individuals more directly responsible for producing the vaccine and then draw the connection that some of the employees for that company may have gone to school at least part of the time in an institute that was initially built for colonialist purposes before being heavily revamped decades before any of these researchers ever attended, if they ever did. Perfunctory admonitions of colonialist violence aside, why would anyone work so hard twisting and obscuring facts to try to convince us that we have Belgian colonialism to thank for the COVID vaccine? This guy creeps me out.

@El Dimos Karam Yes, I think OP is wrong on this issue. Pre-WW share some blame, but most of the damage was done post-WW and mostly by the US & Europe.
