I spent a week in Mexico City as last destination of our backpacking trip in Mexico as a poor broke college student traveling with 3 other 'poor broke' college students. We were pretty lucky, we never got into trouble (We're not the partying type, but we did walk everywhere). But we never went anywhere alone too, so we're in a group of 3 or 4. It was a really nice experience. Affordable and delicious food. Great sightseeing.
