I don't have a daughter, but here in the US, they sometimes would go sleepover/hang out with each other too, esp. in teen years (heck, I'm not born in the US, but I had my share of sleepovers at friends' house too at that age 14-16 when I got here). The girls have known each other a long time, so they trust the parent of one of them, who just happened to be a sex offender. I sure know my parents didn't look up my friends' parents to see if they're sex offenders, and that's the same with these people. They trust them...and it's sad this happens.
