actually nah, even worse, I used to appreciate them but now that they get to just drop insane amount of assignments (double what they're used to with tight deadlines) and not teach and basically making fun of overwhelmed parents on youtube all the whilst not having to apply for unemployment or get laid off...

@someoneelse5581 I agree. Teachers chose their jobs and get paid for it. In fact a lot of us homeowners get our property tax raised over 30% annually to pay for the teachers. I only have one but it's very overwhelming because all the teachers do are not teaching, but dropping assignments and collecting their paychecks normally while the parents are having to work from home, or getting paycut, hours cut, possibly having to apply for unemployment due to getting laid off.

I feel the anger this mother feels. First week, and we have over 180 assignments from the teachers. My kid said, it's never been this much when he has to go to school. He is very overwhelmed. And I share my computer, alas, it's also where I work so it's been extra stressful for all of us. My kiddo is a very ambitious student (he's a straight A student and is wishing to get a scholarship once he graduates HS) and he's been forcing himself to manage it, but the hours the child is working by himself cross over 8 hours a day (doing quizzes, online assignments, tests) Imagine the stress and feeling of isolation ...I'm so sad for him and overwhelmed too. All the teachers do now is just drop assignments on him. :(

But that's your JOB to teach. If the teachers don't get paid, I'll be like, omg, I'm so sorry, that sux, you have to work and not get paid at all! I work my ass off too at my job to earn my income and no it's not that great of a paying job. No job is easy. My son is a straight A student who's a favorite of all his teachers but even then, he's very stressed out because all the teachers do is just dole out assignments and 'not teaching' so they can just sit their asses at home and get their normal paychecks while a lot of people get laid off, stressed out about $ having to apply for unemployment?

@erinweston915 a lot of times, they offer chromebooks but the ones they have, are not..unfortunately, in good condition and my kid has had issue working on it even at school. We're not a 'computer' family, but I do work from home so I have my computer that is reliable, and my kid has preferred to work on it for his school, it's been a huge challenge because I have to work too.

Thank you. I wonder if the teachers are talking to each other, because the amount of assignments they're dropping with a very tight deadline is crazy and overwhelming. When my son had to go to school, he said, it's not this bad, he could manage his time (he's not like other kids who are messing around, he's very ambitious and a straight A student, he's aiming for scholarship, etc), even he gets very overwhelmed working around 8- 10 hours daily at home to finish the assignments. I wonder if there's no behind-the-scene chats between the teachers? I'm this close to call the teachers and the school district tbh.

I must admit, the video was hilarious LOL

I am close to this level of anger honestly. First of all, since there has been no plan in place, everything is a cluster f*ck. All the teachers decided to drop 30-40 assignments (from Khan academy so they don't even have to 'teach' anything) to be completed in 5 day period (and there are 6 teachers, so imagine having to shift through over 180 assignments in 5 days period plus online tests and quizzes)....even the kid said, it's never this much when they have to go to school. The way they teach on Khan academy is also very different from the teacher's and so they're confused. This 'long distance' learning is actually overwhelming them instead of helping and educating. WTF man. So they're gonna be sitting at home and just drop assignments so they don't get 'laid off and get their paychecks'? Currently I call BS and this is only the first week. (Also I have to work from home, and my kid prefers my computer to study so it's been even tougher because I have to work...we still have bills to pay). I'm just very frustrated.
