  1. The other day I was looking at Congressional reports that are available to public, though a bit hidden out of the way on US government websites. US Navy has 11 aircraft carriers. 4 of those are operational. USS Gerald Ford, the newest, recently left the area. Due to the endemic recruitment shortage US has, Ford never had a full crew compliment. And one of those 4 operational carriers is treaty bound to be in Japan for their defence. US is in no shape to fight a war in the Middle East. No shape. But because of their strategic drift, they seem headed in that direction regardless. US federal debt is now 120% of GDP and is projected to hit 150% in 2028 or so. That is so much debt that it cannot be sold on the market but needs to be monetized instead. Why on Earth would you but US treasury bonds in these circumstances? US inflation is sticky as it is and the money printing necessary will be gasoline on the inflation fire. Only a crazy person would trust any long-yield US Treasury bonds anymore. Hopefully these matters are discussed in Davos.
