What Carl Bildt should have commented on was the purported G7 loan to Ukraine that US was pressing for. What happened in the end was that EU was left holding the bag by itself. Using the interest payments on the frozen Russian funds to repay the loan is against the basic principles of banking. So US utterly and completely betrayed Europe. The transatlantic bond is poison in our veins.
