  1. Putin is going to be in power for decade, certainly. Ukraine has lost 500,000 - 600,000 killed and maimed. They have stated that they would need 20,000 fresh troops per month to maintain their military. Ukrainian population before the invasion was 40 million. Millions have left as refugees. I would be stunned if the Ukrainian military is standing in January 2025. Refusing to negotiate with Putin only makes sense from American domestic politics. "We would never bow before a tyrant" and so on, but strategically it is a disaster. We have now learned that US does not even have weapons to send anymore... the recent aid package was a non-event. Washington is not playing an important role, except as an impediment.
