  1.  @somfishingcompany4878  We don't have objective morals? Actually we do have morals. Our morals typically are deducted from reasoning. By the way, I don't see trees as amassed carbon. I see trees as vital, I will cut one down if the tree is sick, threatens to collapse or I need wood and I can make sure that this was sustainable. I have seen a lot of religious people disregard the environment. I don't worship science. I see science as important and I believe it can answer questions better. The good thing about science is that it encourages people to ask questions and probe theories and established laws again and again. People still study gravity to perfect equations. Religions are way too dogmatic, too static. They hate questioning.

  4. Nicely written. This is exactly my view point. Why would there be this infinitely large universe, this nature, this joy of life and then God, who can do everything and nothing, sends his commands through very select people with a book? I don't buy it, especially since this God apparently has very tight ideas how to run a society, weirdly though, they run like Arab 7th century bedouins...

  11. We can't and cannot confirm that we have or don't have a soul. That is a question of faith. Dreams are signals in the brain. What do you mean "connection to death"? The soul is believed to escape death because humans fear death and want an explanation that they don't really die. You can die in your sleep. My grandfather died peacefully in his sleep. Just stopped breathing. When you sleep a lot of things happen in your brain. When we die we die. We just die. No more integration of information.

  16. I also think a lot of this extremism is because people are insecure and stick to something they know. Things are moving fast and many people don't feel like they have control over their life - religion gives them some sense. I don't mind religious people - I celebrate their festivities, with them good xyz on their days. But I expect them no to force their religious beliefs onto me and keep matters of the state outside religion.

  18. It is cultural. People are so immersed into the culture and religion is the foundation block. People who leave religion are seen as people that leave the culture. Plus, the radicals have successfully hijacked Atheism and linked it with amorality and evil. People legitimately think that atheists are evil and have no morals and would kill their parents... Plus, they have fear instilled every day of their life. Fear for their children - because atheists will burn in hell. Muslim parents don't want their children in hell. And many Egyptians are poor. Poor people don't have much but they have religion,.

  24. You are a tourist in a touristy area. You could be the devil and they wouldn't really mind as long as they can be employed. But when you are from a traditional muslim family and become atheist, then this will be a problem.

  29. Egypt is by far not the most liberal country in the middle east. No offence. That title would either go to Lebanon or Tunisia. Morocco would also be placed before you. Don't forget this video was posted 7 years ago. A lot of things change in 7 years.

  33. Be what it may. I just ask you to continue to love your son and to continue to see him as family. His "lack" of faith doesn't reflect on you and doesn't affect your relationship with God. And if you want to, you can pray for your son to be accepted by God. After all, I heard that God is the most merciful? I am sure he would pity a human father.
