Matt Forde That would require getting those better terms. Britain is not in an ideal position for any negotiation. They simply don't have that much to offer than the EU. The EU is a huge market, rich et cetera. UK is much smaller and without any deal, that makes them desperate for a deal. India for example wants VISA free access and travel restrictions and migration restrictions to be reduced by the UK. What Japanese Trade deal are you talking about? https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2019/10/16/business/u-k-eyes-post-brexit-trade-deal-japan-hand-may-not-strong-thinks/#.Xi22XmhKiUk

Matt Forde Not good but forecast for 2020 is 1% growth. Obviously depends a lot on the world economy. 1200 wow, that surely is a lot compared to the millions in the EU. Project fear is a propaganda term coined by Leave so that any bad news can be shrugged off.

Matt Forde I know. The outlook is 1%. Britain is not in a strong position though.....

Matt Forde The EU can't give you a trade deal you want. And this is more like leaving a relationship and the partner leaving wants to remain best friends and keep living in the house without the responsibilities. The EU, in self-interest, can only offer the UK a deal that is worse than they want. I am looking forward to see the UK getting smashed by private insurance that the US so enjoy.

Matt Forde The EU and full totalitarian :D How come every muppet thinks that this will be the outcome? In 10 years, you want to be back. Mark my words.

Matt Forde Since the 60s, Britain wanted into the european trade area. In the 70s, you got the wish finally and then had a referendum that was positive. In the 90s, no politician really disputed the EU anymore. Thatcher wanted her money back but she never had leave really as an option. Forced diversity and collapsed economy; sounds more British.

Matt Forde Dude, that is not the EUs fault that Sweden takes in so many immigrants. That is their own decision. Blaming the EU for everything is factually wrong. Your problem with foreigners is entirely your problem. The EU regulates migration from EU member states, not from Pakistan et cetera. That is to each memberstate of the EU. And I certainly know enough Swedish blondes that would make you hard in an instant. Look at your own politicians and laws before you blame the EU for everything.

Matt Forde Likewise the British economy that is begging for a deal. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/dec/27/uk-economy-faces-weakest-growth-outside-of-recession-since-second-world-war

Matt Forde 2.5 billion for a country that exports more than 1.1 trillion anually.

Matt Forde Just because you don't like this doesn't mean it isn't true. Where do you get your information from? Brexit friendly newspapers that have to sell good news to their pro-Brexit readers?
1
Matt Forde It isn't immune, I never said that. But for us it will be inconvenient whereas for you, it will be a disaster if 40% of your trade will become subject to tariffs.

Matt Forde Will be interesting to see how you can become a thorn in the side. I doubt that you will become Singapore on Thames river.
1
Matt Forde That seems like the only outcome we agree on. By the way, I hope for the best of Britain, I have lived there for a few years.

It is not the EU that regulates the migration of 3rd world countries in the UK.

@Graham6761 And most of them never arrive in the UK.
