He was always known as a very demanding and tricky customer. That's ok. But when you demand billions in damages, have the national safety board writing something about general unsafety of the flagship aircraft when all other regulatory bodies and airliners aren't worried then you don't have to wonder why Airbus won't want to do business with you anymore.

Speed isn't the most important metric. Fuel consumption is.

@bil_G74 Totally agree with that reasoning. He probably thought he could milk Airbus for some money. Well, he now has the result of this. If I were the owner I would have stepped in.

@ahmedhanam Well, if the A350 was only faulty I would agree. But if you wage a legal battle for billions in damages without evidence about flight safety (all regulatory bodies safe the Qatari one) and continue to slander their top tier product, well, I wouldn't want to do business with you either.

@ahmedhanam AFAIK Airbus offered a fix and all other affected customers took it. If they are not satisfied with a product and demand compensation, that is their right. If they say it is unsafe and all regulatory bodies disagree and say Qatar can fly them then I can't really expect Airbus to compensate with billions. Have you looked at the compensation asked? Over 600 million alone. As for the Boeing case, I can't comment on that since I don't know about it.
