Ground invasion was planned - look up 'Operation Olympic'. The cost would have been horrific, so more a-bombs would be used before it would begin.

@f3tsch906 There are books and even u-tube videos about this subject. Invasion plans were being made; the a-bombs were not 'real' until July 1945. You really must do more research on this, much more. The info is out there . . .

Pearl Harbor was not effectively attacked; no second wave was sent. Oil storage, submarines, workshops were left intact . . . . big mistake.

@junbug9844 As I understand, the admiral in charge decided not to 'push his luck'. Had he done so, he might have got the carriers too.
