To make matters worse for DeSantis, the Sheriff has confirmed that the filed case includes both felony and misdemeanor charges of Unlawful Restraint. Unfortunately for DeSantis, unlawful restraint is typically classified as a misdemeanor unless the victim is under the age of 17. In this case, five of the migrants fall into this category, thus escalating the charges to felonies. This illegal operation was masterminded by DeSantis and executed using Florida taxpayers' money through his Chief of Staff, James Uthmeier.
