The agreement provided Ukraine with security assurances in exchange for Ukraine's agreement to eliminate its entire stockpile of nuclear weapons, which were inherited from the Soviet Union. The Budapest Memorandum promised to respect Ukraine's independence and sovereignty within its existing borders, as well as to refrain from the use of force or the threat of force against Ukraine. The signatories also committed to providing Ukraine with economic and technical assistance to aid in the dismantling of its nuclear weapons and to promote peaceful cooperation.

Ron DeSantis signed a bill in Florida, SB 1718, that makes it illegal for immigrants to work, particularly in the agriculture industry. This has caused a significant problem as many workers are choosing not to work and keeping their children out of school out of fear of deportation. The shortage of workers could lead to a crisis in Florida's agriculture sector. Even truckers have shown their opposition to the law and are refusing to enter the state, resulting in empty supermarket shelves.
