  1. fun fact: Ukraine is NOT begging for help. In 1994, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan gave up the nuclear weapons they inherited from the Soviet Union and signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty as non-nuclear weapon states. In exchange, Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom pledged to respect their sovereignty, refrain from the use of force against them and provide security assurances. The decision to denuclearize was made by Ukraine as a sign of good will and a commitment to non-proliferation, as well as to strengthen its security and build better relations with other countries.

  2. fun fact: Why USA, UK, & France has no choice but to help Ukraine: In 1994, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan denuclearized as part of an agreement with Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom, known as the Budapest Memorandum. The agreement provided security assurances in exchange for the three countries giving up their nuclear weapons, which they inherited from the Soviet Union. Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan had the world's third largest nuclear weapons arsenal and the denuclearization was a significant step towards non-proliferation and global security.

In 1994, the United States, along with Russia and the United Kingdom, signed the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances, in which they made several promises to Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan, who were giving up their nuclear weapons inherited from the Soviet Union. The main promises made by the US were: To respect the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan, and not to use force against them. To refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. To refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan of the rights inherent in their sovereignty. The Budapest Memorandum also reaffirmed the commitment of the signatories to the principle of inviolability of frontiers and to the territorial integrity of States, and of the peaceful resolution of disputes. It's worth mentioning that the Budapest Memorandum did not establish a legally binding obligation for the signatories to come to the defense of Ukraine, Belarus, or Kazakhstan in case of an attack, but it was an international political agreement which reaffirmed the security assurances provided in the UN Charter.
