if MAGA asks you why we are helping Ukraine, just show them this: Ukraine signed the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances on December 5, 1994, which was a political agreement signed by Ukraine, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia. The memorandum was designed to provide Ukraine with assurances against the use or threat of nuclear weapons against it in exchange for Ukraine giving up its nuclear weapons, which were inherited from the Soviet Union after its collapse. Under the agreement, the signatory countries pledged to respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, refrain from the use of force against Ukraine, and refrain from using or threatening to use nuclear weapons against it. In addition, the memorandum called for consultations between the signatory countries in the event of a situation that could potentially threaten Ukraine's security.
