  1. Here's my real take on Kevin McCarthy: Nobody likes him, and nobody trusts him. He has no ideology, and no values beyond naked ambition. So - if he becomes Speaker, the GOP caucus will be in instant disarray. If he doesn't become Speaker, my Schadenfreude will be off the hook.

  5. There are reports that Kevin McCarthy has given in on the "motion to vacate" clause in order to secure votes he needs to be Speaker -- he had said he would NEVER do this. It means that a small number of votes can bring a no-confidence motion to the floor to boot the Speaker.
