There never were 300k men. Most of them either didn't exist or consisted of poorly trained soldiers and cops. The problem was the corruption. The leaders sold out their country and didn't pay their soldiers their salaries. No leadership, no unity. The numbers were about even with taliban, and unlike taliban the able soldiers were betrayed by their leaders.
