Even if the police had investigated her case & he was punished to the fullest extent of the law, (with the statute of limitations) the best she could hope for was a proverbial, “slap on the wrist”. He would have been back home within the day! The law is only just starting to take devastating crimes against women seriously. Even the worst crimes of abuse against women are statistically unlikely to end in prosecution…& only a small number of convictions end in serious prison time. 😳

  25. I detest bullies! They can change who their victims will be, into adulthood if they spot their prey young enough! When my children were in a Texas (USA) school they practiced a “Zero tolerance for bullying” principle. They were taught (age appropriate) that bullies are weak damaged people with a “hole” inside. They mistakenly believe that they can fill their hole by hurting others. Kids who don’t bully are the clever ones who understand that the emptiness grows when you hurt others! We know that the hole gets filled with kindness, compassion, understanding & good friendships. I know that it’s highly, “Age Appropriate” but it really stuck with my kids! We now live in England & they’re teenagers (last one nearly a teen 😰) & they have utter contempt for bullying, After about 5 years in this school system where occasional bullying & “being mean” to the kid that’s a bit “different” still persists, I’m sure that my children’s attitude has rubbed-off on their friends & classmates.
