@brain_tonic It was the romans that used lead acetate as a artificial sweetener but that was a long time ago. The average person is not going to encounter it, although it is easy to prepare. Leave some lead into acetic acid for a month. Mostly, we encounter metallic lead with some PbO on it. Some electronics have lead in the soldier.

Well, I suppose when you fire a gun, the lead ball rubs against the iron tube of the gun, so you would have some micro particles flying around. I don't know how bad that problem is. Tetraethyl lead in gasoline is much worst. It probably burns with oxygen and makes some PbO micro dust and so, it floats around very well in air. Also, the Tetraethyl lead itself is toxic.
