@bradgavel9991 I assume the people of Ukraine. Wikipedia says: In the second round, on 21 April 2019, he received 73% of the vote to Poroshenko's 25%, and was elected President of Ukraine. It looks like he won bc he wanted to pull Ukraine away from Russian influence. Armenia did the same thing. In a lot of these ex-soviet states, people have developed a dislike for the soviet system.

@thomasschierer9326 Ukraine can join NATO at anytime. Why not today? The reason is that NATO nations do not want to go to war with Russia. It costs a lot of lives, it costs money and resources. The same thing happens over and over again throughout history. Armenia and Georgia were the ones fighting the mongol and turkic invasion since they were the easternmost nations of the Byzantine empire. Look at WW2. England did not want to fight Germany. England’s plan was to let France fight and the German army would be weakened. The idea was that once Germany reached England (unless France wins), it would be an easy victory for England. France’s solution was to put down arms quickly. So, a big German army reached England. England (Winston Churchill?) asked the USA for help. The USA (I think Teddi Roosevelt) said no. A law had been passed. The USA won’t get involved since it costs too much. Like Bugs Bunny says. If you can’t beat them, join them. Maybe Ukraine should join Russia?

@angus7278 Well, it is obvious that there are cheerleaders from both sides. I'm interested as to what these western nations are thinking? They want to help Ukraine or not?

@J..P.. The western nations are in a sleepy state. They don’t invest in their military except for the USA. Germany had said that they gave all their tanks to Ukraine. England said that they had given some rocket system and they run out. I’m guessing it would take a lot of time to setup their tools to remake new ones. I am in Canada and there is always talks about how outdated the jet fighters and helicopters are and there is no money to buy new ones. So, I understand why they are so reluctant of helping Ukraine, a country that clearly wants to disconnect from Russian influence.

I thought Putin wanted to take over Ukraine? He is destroying the homes and lives of the citizens of Ukraine. He isn't going to rebuild a foreign nation. Russia doesn't even help its closest ally: Armenia.
