@seanou2837 “why do you think integration is a good thing, do you believe your European culture is better than theirs? they have every right to reject your culture...why don't you integrate in their culture?”
==If people aren’t the same, then there is probably going to be some hate between them because of the past.
For example, there is still racism between white and those of african descent in the USA.
Even when there is a lot of intermarriage, when a person skull shape and skin color leans towards african, it becomes a reason for racism.
If you join the military and you are asked to go and fight against your own country, would you do it? If you are of russian descent and Canada sends you to Russia, would you bomb the cities of your homeland?
These issues have arisen multiple times in the past. What did they do with the canadians from Japan during WW2? What did the USA do?
There was the case of a certain muslim in the US army. When the USA went to Afghanistan to deal with the taliban, that soldier through a grenade in the tent of his sergeant and killed him.
I think european culture is better compared to those in muslim countries since there is more freedom.
As a woman, you can drive a car, you can get an education. You aren’t forced to get married. You can go out anytime.
Being LGBT is ok. Being an atheist or having another religion is ok.

@Irvingstine PART 8:
If you want to call it science, that is up to you.
Back then, it was a period when a thought crossed someone’s mind “Hey, let’s have people breath in mercury vapors or let’s apply mercury chloride to our faces. Probably mercury has some healing powers since it is a special looking substance.” and immediately, the idea was picked up by others.
It’s the same with the idea of healing crystals, quartz, beryl, ruby and such. To ancient people, these objects looked special. I agree, they certainly looked different than the dirt and various rocks around us.
I guess the idea crossed someone’s mind that if you wear it around your neck, it heals you.
...to be continued.

@twitteringothers5059 "Really ? Tell me - what is the suicide and psychological instability rates for atheists ?"
==From what I hear, it is higher in atheist population compared to the theist population.
I looked at a paper written by Rob Whitley, Ph.D.
Apparently, some studies clump nones and atheists together.
According to him:
“New research has set out to examine the broad mental health differences in the sub-categories constituting the "nones." Interestingly, a growing number of studies suggest that people possessing strong religious beliefs and convinced atheists tend to share similarly positive mental health. The worst mental health is observed in those with more ambiguous, confused, and weaker religious or spiritual beliefs.”
According to Dermot O'Reilly and Michael Rosato, there is a set of studies from the 19 th century to 2000, that shows that the nones have more of a risk for suicide and mental health issues, lowest for Roman Catholics and intermediate for Protestants.
They don’t say what the numbers are.
Some think the reason for this is isolation. When you are in a religion and you go to church, you have more of a social network. Some thing that is incorrect and it could be simply be due to the religion or priest telling the person that suicide is illegal.
It concludes with another study done in Ireland. It says the risk is similar for nones, for catholics and protestants. When it comes to young adults, the risk is higher in catholics.
There is a table and it shows that more men than women commit suicide. This might be fear related.
If you are married, it reduces the risk of suicide.
If you have a permanent illness, it increases the risk drastically.
If you are unemployed, it increases the risk.
Overall, I do think that having a social net is good for the individual. It is important to be in a club, which is what a church offers. As the number of atheists goes up, some churches need to be converted to clubs for atheists so that they can come together and socialize.

@couch4330 That’s not about global warming. That is about plate tectonic theory.
If you go back to the Middle Silurian period, 425 million y ago, there was basically no north america and no europe. Most of it was underwater and the parts outside the water is called Laurentia and it was in the southern hemisphere, near the equator.
In the early Devonian period, 390 million y ago, north america + europe begin surfacing more. This is called Laurentia. Again, it is slightly in the southern hemisphere, but it is moving north.
In the late Carboniferous period, 306 million y ago, north america + europe look larger and half of it is in the southern hemisphere and half is in the northern hemisphere.
In the early Triassic period, 230 million y ago, north america + europe now has almost the same area as today. Now, most of this land mass is in the northern hemisphere.
In the late Jurassic period, 150 million y ago, europe is separate from north america. Both keep heading north. South America and Africa are still joined.
I don’t know what the temperate of that period was. It was a very different time period.
“I think the planet will be fine. Plant a tree if you're worried, natural carbon capture.”
==I think the planet will be fine as well. There will be radical changes and it is already happening. About a species goes extinct per day and eventually, new species will spread and diversify.
Life for humans will not be the same either as easy resources like petrol and coal run dry.
Planting a tree would not help. The amount of CO2 being emitted is too fast.
Also, I cut down trees and I burn them for heat during winter.
The only reason why all the forests have not been eliminated is that people are using petrol, coal, CH4 to heat their homes and industry and some use other sources, such as hydro (such as myself).

@couch4330 “I did not say it was in the same place, I said the opposite - from 70 million years ago, Canada crashed together at the Rockies and moved west as I said.”
==I already listed what the position was of north america and europe and that is something that effects the ecology.
So, when you ask
“How hot was it when the Albertosaurus, found in Alberta, which moved laterally west and not north, lived in a tropical climate?”
I wouldn’t know but I think your point is to not care about the environment.
The question I have is why don’t you care?
“Plants or animals? Genius. Crude is hypothesized to come from marine zooplankton and plants produce coal, but it is a hypothesis, and not tested as we cannot produce millions of years of collected organisms under high pressure. It is arguable.”
==Petrol clearly comes from an animal or plant source. It is called a scientific educated guess.
There is no need to produce the same conditions and wait millions of years.
For coal, it is clear that it comes from ancient plants since their pattern is visible in the coal.
“You copy any paste without knowing what you're pasting. Meaning, it's useless.”
==How do you know I don’t know the meaning? Maybe you are just frustrated by the facts that scientists provide and you aren’t getting it your way.

@couch4330 “This isn't a discussion, you are talking over me. I literally explained how North America crashed together by eastern NA moving west since 70 million years ago and was tropical at that time period, but you gave "going north" 150 million years ago when the dinosaur I have an example of was 70-65 million years ago.”
==I was giving a history as to how things have changed: the position of the plates have changed drastically over time, along with that weather patterns changed, the ecology changes.
You mentioned the canadian rockies and that is fine.
I think the point that you are making, which is a point that I have heard before is that changes in nature happen, therefore, it is ok to cause change by continuing to burn fossil fuel, it is ok to increase the level of CO2, it is ok to cut down forest, etc.
Pointing to past changes and claiming it is ok to ignore the changes that humans are doing to nature is irresponsible.
I’m sure your parents and your scientific teams is proud of you as well.
Luckily, the majority of the people don’t listen to the stories you have about don’t worry, just protect the economy.

@albback8176 This means that there is internal conflict, internal hate in the country of Libya.
It is the same for Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan.
And most likely, it is religiously motivated hate.
The war in Afghanistan was about getting rid of the taliban, a religious group that wants a theocracy.
The war in Iraq was about getting petrol. The USA benefited a lot.
That one made the USA look really bad. Well, what do you expect when the republicans are in leadership? The republicans = oil tycoons of the USA.
For example, in Syria, the leader is Alawi muslim. It is a more tolerant group towards christians. There are a lot of armenians in Syria and they prefer Bashar Asad.
The west wants him removed and the west claims that he is responsible for human rights abuses, which is true.
If he gets replaced, the armenians will likely get wiped out.
Who knows why the west is interested in Syria. Maybe it is bc Syria is against Israel.

@Irvingstine PART 17:
Baking a cake, making bread involves chemistry. I would not claim that a cook is a chemist.
Making copper, zinc, tin, iron, lead probably involved throwing some rocks into a large fire, 10,000 y ago or something. History doesn’t record when it happened, how it happened, who did it, but it is the guess of scientists that that is how primitive man made copper and perhaps the next morning, he noticed the shiny copper beads.
I wouldn’t call him a chemist.

@guymontag2948 “As far as breaking eggs goes that's, again, beside the point. I know it was bad. We're still responsible for stuff we break, even if we had good intentions, at the time. I think Obama described his regret as a failure to plan for the day after their intervention. You know, the gaping power vacuum.”
==The USA’s and allie’s goal was to get rid of the taliban and to place a democratic system in its place.
I assume they gave the government weapons, trained the army, etc.
It is odd that as soon as they left, the taliban took control so fast.
Maybe Afghanistan’s army doesn’t know how to fight or is unwilling.
Something similar happened in Iraq. They setup a government, trained the army, gave weapons. As soon as the USA left, various groups started warfare.
ISIS formed somehow and where was Iraq’s army? A lot of weapons were capture by ISIS. ISIS was beheading soldiers and civilians.
They took control of large parts of Iraq and began expanding into Syria.
My guess is that these muslim countries are fragmented. There are various tribes, various religious sects. Each sect wants to install their version of theocracy. They dislike each other and they dislike the USA. They view democracy as something foreign and non-muslim. So, if the USA sets up democracy, some portion does go voting while another large portion does not since their tribe leader says no to his followers.
Then, they use bombs to attack voting stations, police stations, army stations.
I think the size of each fragment is near equal to each other so their civil wars last a long time.
In the case of Afghanistan, the fragments are not the same size. The taliban is huge so they mostly won.
The USA failed in reducing their numbers over a span of 20 y.

@pineapplesareyummy6352 Well, since nearly half of united statians (or is it 40%?) believe Donald when he says the election was taken, and we saw what happened on Jan 06, 2022, I’m sure there is a portion that wants to use violence.
Have you seen what the televangelists are saying? There is a channel that discusses them.
They pump up the people with nonsense: Donald is Jesus, Donald was sent by god and we turned our backs on him, etc.
I imagine that half of the population follows one of those televangelists. I don’t really know since I am in Canada but from what I have seen, united statians are very religious, very afraid f the devil, they don’t like catholics. Some want to deport atheists.
The conditions are present for things to get violent in the USA.
This is why dictators and communists shut down churches, shut down certain leaders. Free speech leads to violence. The funny thing is, in order to remove free speech, they have to use violence.
