Cellulose is a plastic. Some plastics are natural and some are artificial and come from petrol (after some chemistry). Cooked eggs denatures the proteins which creates a plastic like substance (the white flexible part). There is one called polylactose I think, that SunChips used for a year. It was noisy and was biodegradeable. It was good stuff. Polyethylene is the most common plastic made. It is very durable. It can resists strong acids and bases. It's also possible to make it from plants.
