  1. In french, they call it klaxon but I'm not sure how it is written. And it is also a verb: klaxonner.

  2.  @sirBrouwer  : Yes, it is strange that klaxon is written with a 'k' in french. In general, the french language avoids starting words with a k. For example, my dictionnary Larousse de poche (pocket) has only 1 page of words with k. Pages 57 to 104 are words starting with C. Also, the words with k are kayak, karate, kyste, kangourou, karting. They are all foreign loan words.
