@timothymatthews6458 I don’t see an argument against general abortion unless it’s religious. The ethic debate surrounding abortion is over a long time ago, the only people who still actively opposes abortion are almost all religious

@blueglass1163 so what’s next? Creationism along side with evolution? I’m sure that will further the study into biology

@waltersobchak8080 absolutely not. The reason you keep saying murder is because you want to pretend abortion is murder without a doubt. If you are so concern about taking one’s life, then you’d be against capital punishment? Drone strike? You make your argument based on controversial moral value, perhaps because you lack a better argument?

@timothymatthews6458 then learn how to get around it. My comments get deleted all the time

@mowgli2071 “we” are a very small minority of the country. A law is a social contract that majority of society agree upon which they sacrifice certain freedom to achieve. An abortion ban has no social binding power because a majority of America don’t see it as murder

@waltersobchak8080 moral standard changes, people also used to get capital punishment for not being Christian

@waltersobchak8080 we can’t have a conversation with you saying “murder” every two sentence. As for changing moral, moral value adapt to society, and all moral values are conditional, just like Kent said

@mo.ka.9661 to a certain degree, yes. Absolute crime is an old concept, modern justice is build on the fact that all crimes are conditional and should consider the situation when it was committed. The debate is not over on when the cut-off is for abortion, but it is agreed upon by all developed country (aside from UK) that abortion based on social or economical reason is not morally wrong. You need to know that Supreme Court of a country is never meant to be used to determine whether something is morally wrong, but a guideline to ruling and sentencing. Something like abortion ban, which deprive the freedom of individual, can only exist as a constitution, not some decision to be overturned years later. This is why I found American law ridiculously flawed when it comes to constitution laws. Constitution is meant to be vague, then interpret and revise based on the contemporary climate. All laws restrict individual freedom to exchange for some collective security. Yet in your constitution it was clearly statement that individual freedom should be protected to the most extend. This is why even with all those gun violence your government never abandoned the second amendment. Yet deprivation of medical freedom seems to be okay. As a Canadian it’s really hard to see what exactly Americans consider as “law” vs “constitution”. It seems to me your justices just choose whatever suit their political benefit.

@Dbulkss most Americans think the time of pregnancy should matter on the legality, but no data said there is a specifically agreed upon term. According to PewResearch, most Americans doesn’t have a strong opinion and thinks abortion should be legal in some cases and illegal in others. Also, 37% atheist says abortion is not a legal issue, while 62% says abortion is legal in all cases. If you apply rational reasoning instead of religious BS, the answer of this issue is pretty clear. And moral values absolutely changes. It was ok for parents and teachers to physically discipline their kids, or husband to physically discipline his wife. Are you telling me that is still morally correct?

@Dbulkss do you know the detail of modern meat industry? It’s disgusting and inhuman, so why are you not a vegetarian yet?
