  1. This comment is so dumb it’s actually hilarious, here’s why: 1. Lebanon was never closed with Iran. It was closed with Sudan and Iraq and Syria, since these are geopolitically sensible allies. 2. Why would Lebanon prioritize relationship with America, when the US-backed Israel created all the Muslim refugee that led to Lebanon civil war in the first place? 3. Why would America want Lebanon as ally, when they have one a few hundred miles south, with all the sea access they need? The US literally invaded Lebanon before and just left cuz they saw no value in holding the position. 4. A bit more subjective on this one, but why would Lebanon, a country that suffered extremely from foreign meddling and religious divide historically, ally itself with America? Cuz surely America will be fair to the majority Muslim population that had been suppressed by an elite class of Christian since the founding of this nation, yea?

  2. The real issue isn’t economic, it’s the fact the Lebanon is still divided by religion. Lebanon was doomed when Chehab and his candidate lost the election back in 1970. The fact ppl think Lebanon was the “Switzerland of Middle East” up until the recent economic crisis is so stupid. The leader after Chehab all create illusions of prosperity with drug trade and financial loopholes. Just watch, IMF will not save Lebanon, in fact, there will probably be another civil war and an western puppet in the office very soon
