I really disagrees with the whole intersectionality theory. Why do we encourage people to be divided more when our society is already polarized? I’m a minority and a lefty, but conservatives are not just “racist”. A black, lgbtq woman from New York is just as respectful as a white, MAGA man from Mississippi. Your identity makes up who you are, but it should not be the judgement of where you belong

@charlesmiv3842 maybe not an American one, but I’ve always voted liberal, and I’m an immigrant from Asia. When I learned about intersectionality, I see it as a way to divid a society. I believe a country requires some form of unifying identity,. Are those MAGA people not Americans as well? Call them stupid, but then shouldn’t you try to talk to them outside of a protest, where both parties is a bit more calm?

@Lwilight perhaps intersectionality works better at US. I get the concept that a black woman is excluded as black for desk job, and as woman for labour-intensive job. But I fell like it’s a dangerous slippery slope that gives score to how disadvantaged a person is. I don’t think scholars like Crenshaw meant this, but I think a social theory need to be approachable by the general public. I’m no expert in this field but it definitely has radicalized right wing narrative. I think instead of saying black women are “black” and “women”, we should focus on how they are part of the black community, and they are also part of the women community. I just don’t think forming small pockets of black women community will help ease the racial tension Btw I’m Asian Canadian, ofc I have different experience than a black woman in US, so above is simply my view
