Aristotle once said: There are 6 forms of democracy, 3 that serves the common interests, they are monarchy, aristocracy, and republic. There are also 3 that serves only the interest of the ruler, they are tyranny, oligarchy, and democracy. To peruse democracy before perusing rule of law would be a disaster. Malaysia is heading down that path

@PushyPawn China is neither a democracy nor rule of law, whereas Russia has a democratic framework, it just doesn’t have the rule of law. Ofc you don’t have to take quote too seriously, I agree. But I do think this it is true where you can have democracy without rule of law, and Malaysia is one of them. A government can openly pass laws against the constitution, a legal system cares only about retribution rather than compensation. Tell me that is not the case in Malaysia. If there was a functioning legal system, then how did they charged Saddiq with corruption Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think he was guilty of corruption. But the way I see it, he is trying to work in a system where everyone can be charged with corruption because of bad legislation.

@casperchristensen6451 polity, once referred to as “politeia”, is the governing system where a group of people with the same identity governs those their fellow citizen through social connection. Republicanism is the modern word for polity. If we are talking about Aristotle, it is also worth mentioning that he believes “interest of all” was not achievable in a diverse society, but rather, it requires cultural hegemony.

@PushyPawn that proves my point exactly. Russia can hold election but it doesn’t serves the public interest due to lack of rule of law. Russia itself is not alone, Eastern Europe like Hungary, or Turkey, and Egypt. Do you not think that even this guy is elected, the system that drives the Malaysia corruption will not change?
