@melissacole4903 I agree the healing process is long and arduous. I was in an emotionally abusive marriage and I thought it was ‘okay’ because he didn’t hit me. I was very wrong. I stayed longer than I should have, mainly because I had a child and that caused severe mental health damage to me and my child too. I realized late that all options, to stay, to go, both affects the child. I’ve been divorce for almost 9 years and I still have to deal with the emotional damage. I said money assistance is important because money traps women in bad relationships. I was lucky I worked and could have afforded living on my own but I know that is not the case for many women. Yes, we need a community to network with. ~desperately seeking a community

It is those women the government should help until they are able to help themselves by teaching them how to become independent.
