As a black American, I visited Turkey 2 years ago and didn’t experience this because if I don’t talk, they don’t know which country I am from. However, in the mid-90s when I was in the military and we were in South Asia, we were told ‘you Americans go home’ while walking through the town. In other South Asian countries, we had a hard time getting a taxi. At first I thought it was because we were black but when I questioned it with others, they said it was because they hate Americans. That was when I learned that there are people around the world that hates Americans.

@karim_ghibli Admittedly, I didn’t know back then or even during most of my enlistment. I learned years later, when I started traveling the world on my own and speaking to locals. Controversial statement, I wish there was a way they can go after the politicians directly and leave the citizens out of it.
