  1. Why is she suing the governor and not the school board? The state outlawed discrimination based on hairstyles so it is not the state that is the problem. Disclaimer, the following might be controversial for some to read. As someone who grew up in the Caribbean, I think people wearing deadlocks is cultural appropriating from those who are not from the Caribbean or immediate family (father/mother/grandparents not 100 years ago) is not from Africa. Deadlocks is not a hairstyle, it is a culture and people just wearing as a style is appropriating the culture.
