  4.  @Bettie_Rage  Arranged marriage is when 2 families try to find out if their children will match and are suited for marriage. The guy and girl chat, discuss their future plans interests etc. After speaking on the phone and some 'non contact dates' they can say whether they want to pursue it, it's great if they like each other and if not they move onto the next match. They will keep finding different matches until they find the right partner. A bit like marriage/dating shows on the TV right now. The process is arranged by the parents and the chemistry is left to their children. I've been matched to guys spoken to them on the phone if they're not nice/right match I will tell the guy sorry but I don't want to pursue it good luck. And then you just move onto the next one. No biggy. Forced is different- the parents will not ask the girl/boy and just force them. Big difference.

  5. @MāTT no its not the same thing. Sorry but you don't understand. The dating/marriage TV shows looking for a partner for a man- he chats to them, the TV producer matches him with girls etc- that's exactly what arranged marriage is. So your shows are forcing people to date right? :D

  6.  @theTruthSeekerishere  dumbo, I'm asian and muslim my parents have shown me suitors and if i didn't like them they were cool with it and suggested other guys. No ones forced me to do fk all, so move on.

  7. Arranged marriage is when parents look for a spouse for their adult age children. They compare education, interests etc and then it's down to the guy and girl if they click and have any chemistry. If they don't like each other they move onto the next match until they find the right one. Forced marriage however is probably no contact before marriage or being told you will marry that person and have no choice. That's the difference. Arranged marriage can be good- your parents do the hard work of finding you potentials and you just sieve through the good ones and bad ones.

  8.  @rotisserie8444  this story is- yes at 15. However normal asians look for their kids at age 22, 25 etc. I don't expect you guys to understand as you're not Asian. There are some bad parents and theres some decent parents. Again I cant explain to you as you're non asian.

  10. @MāTT they are looking for a partner? thats exactly what arranged marriage is. But in the end they have the option to marry them. Theres also shows called married at first sight- its the same. I dont expect you to understand as you are not asian.

  11. @MāTT There's shows like married at first sight- which end in marriage. And the showing of multiple suitors for a dating show is kinda like arranged marriage. However I don't expect u to understand as you're non asian. I've been shown guys and rejected the ones I didn't like- my parents were cool with that. That's okay if you're parents are open minded and don't force their son/daughter. But sadly this story was really sad and God bless her for her incredible strength. Asians are a lot more open these days and can find their own partners/use their parents. I really hope forced marriages is a thing of the past.

There's nothing wrong with arranged marriage (where you have a choice and are allowed to say yes and no to potential suitors) but it should not be forced and they should be of legal marriage age. This young lady unfortunately had a forced marriage at an age under the legal age 😥

  18. Not really, if the girl contacts the police about a forced marriage they will help her. The British police are trained in forced marriages. Arranged marriages are common in Asia mostly and religion wise Islam, Sikh, Hindu. Sadly some can be forced marriages.
