  1. The Coast Starlight is a beautiful trip, driving along the Oregon coast and the drive along the coast in Maine are also very beautiful. Trains rarely run on time and can turin into nightmares. We were coming home on the Starlight and a cargo train in front of us derailed in a tunnel with at least a 36 hour delay. We went backwards for about an hour to Eugene, had to wait until they found a bus big enough to take us to Sacramento, and then got back on a new train to LA.
