@BigBruh-xu4xc I'm totally grateful for you for pointing out "gender equality". If I may also add, it is also connected to "modern feminism". Gender equality and modern feminism, I believe, have made some women to be independent in a wrong way.
Glad to say, modern feminism is not the only form of feminism out there. There is also another form of feminism that recognizes the complementarity of the sexes: a man completes a woman and vice versa.
The passage, Ephesians chap 5 verse 23, is trying to remind men to be the leader in a relationship particularly in marriage. Leading, not always financially but, by showing with words and example how to be a good partner, how to love truthfully, that is, choosing and willing the good of the other person. Of course, it is easier said than done. It requires effort right from the very start of choosing the right partner and all the way to marriage and living together.
Of course, not all relationships are success stories. This is due to the inherent flaw in human beings, both men and women, which is the tendency to selfishness. A relationship could be better or worse in the measure the tendency to be selfish is mastered and redirected towards self-giving. In a husband-wife partnership, the husband ought to be the teacher in self-giving. If the teacher, in this case the husband, is effective, the wife will learn self-giving and will reciprocate the husband's self-giving.
I hope this gives you enlightenment.

@jakelee7083 If the missionaries' agenda back then was pure politics, they would not have the interior strength to endure the torture and the slow and painful death. Coincidentally, today, February 6, is the anniversary of the martyrdom of a Catholic priest, a native Japanese convert, Paul Miki and his companions in 1597.
It's quite easy to paint a political color to their presence in Japan, they are now dead and could not counter the accusations. Branding them as agents intent on meddling with Japanese affairs is a way to justify their arrest and murder, don't you think so?
It is quite unfortunate the powerful warlords of that time interpreted the influence of the missionaries to the people, including to some local chiefs, as a threat to their power and status. Let's forget and forgive past offenses and move on for a better and prosperous Japan.
