Thanks for your great video. Nixionian policies from 50-years ago do not fit in the current political paradigm between US & China. Mike Pompeo call for formal US recognition of Taiwan is the new direction to pursue. And to deter China, the US military forward deployed to Taiwan will prevent any conflict with China. Deterrance works. Ask West Germany if it worked for them?..

In 1979 Jimmy Carter abrogated the US-Republic of China (RoC) Mutual Defense Treaty. So the US today no longer has a legal treaty obligation to defend Taiwan. Taiwan Relations Act is in place today & is ambiguous intentionally.
