Spain was neutral and non beligerant during WWII, two different status. The picture of Serrano Suñer is Franco's brother. Serrano is at the right of Himmler. Franco never had the slightest intention of entering the War, there was an economic blockade sponsored by the treacherous government of the Republic, he did try to get what he could from the Germans, Italians and Portuguese. There was never a special fervor for Hitler, the Spanish rules of good manners were followed to return the Russians for their visit to Spain and the Blue Division, volunteers, not mercenaries, did so with honors, winning several awards and earning the respect of the Germans and the fear of the Russians. Spain saved thousands of Jews and demanded that Hitler hand over the Ashkenazis. Only one of Franco's diplomats saved many thousands more than Schindler. Israel thanked Franco for his efforts before the UN.

@eugeniubedasoler229 Ese diplomático, entre muchos porque no fue el único como se dice, fue Ángel Sanz Briz y TODOS los cargos que ocupó, que fueron desde 1944 como embajador en Suiza con 34 años los firmó Franco, la republiqueta ya no existía por suerte. Sirvió en el Glorioso Ejército Nacional en Marruecos y España y estuvo en activo hasta 1980 en la Santa Sede.

@Author: Franco was not a fascist, he was in any case a National Catholicist, but in reality he had no political affection, politics had killed coexistence in Spain just as it does today. He was pragmatic, patriotic, an excellent statesman, probably the best of his century by far and the only leader to defeat communism in a war. Spain went from being neutral to being non-belligerant, two different statuses. Negotiations with Hitler were impossible precisely to avoid entering another war, having just emerged from ours without reservations and economically blocked at the initiative of the criminal republican government in exile, in the face of the contempt of the Western powers, delighted to sink Spain. They took what they could from Germany and Italy. As is the norm of education in Spain, we returned the visit to the Russians, leaving a memory of victory and honors as always we have done.
