@xXkeLLy467Xx Delusional take. If you make a few mistakes during questioning or for some other reason police start suspecting you, just answering their questions could easily land you a conviction of something you didn't do. Just being put under this kind of pressure has been shown to provoke false confessions, leading to wrongful convictions. If you are being questioned, insist on speaking to a lawyer first. With them, you can always still decide on telling everything you know.

Narration sucks. They never at any point point out how this type of questioning could impact a suspect into giving false statements, they are just looking for evidence to support their conclusion.

@@darkjester267 A good lawyer would have told him to just shut up until all the actual facts, not the lies they are feeding him during this first interrogation, became clear. He has told his story, which is possible, now he needs to shut up.

No, it's scary to think that in your backwards country law enforcement can question and pressure a minor like this without a lawyer present. If you knew anything about how false confessions arise you'd know that this is exactly that. This is how you force confessions from people of things they didn't do and lock up people that are innocent. Study after study has confirmed what pressure does to a vulnerable person in such a setting: they just start to say what it is they think the officers want to hear.

In my country this would be illegal.

Ridiculous that in the US it is allowed to question minors like this without lawyers present. This kind of pressure ('you did it' 'everything points to you') is how mistrials, false confessions and ultimately wrongful convictions happen, as time and time again any scientific research into these cases has shown. Backwards country with a broken justice system. You should know that in international legal scholarship, it is NORMAL to say the American prison industrial complex is similar to modern day slavery. That you house more than 50% of the world's incarcerated and it has done nothing to diminish crime in your country. Compared to any other rich democracy, the US is a failed state in regards to security.
