Sun causing earthquakes is not just Ben's thing, I've read about it many years ago in a Russian pop-sci magazine (either "Популярная механика" - Russian edition of "Popular Mechanics" or "Вокруг света" (around the world) - the magazine of Russian geographic society), it was not presented as a firm theory, but as a fringe idea, a vague hypothesis, which puzzled the author after he analyzed history of big solar flares and large earthquakes that followed them with some delay (around 3-4 months IIRC) Weirdest thing about it was, the article contained a prediction - a large solar eruption happened just before it was put in print, and prediction was - a large earthquake will take place somewhere from late September to middle of October that year, and it did! So... back then it did impress me. Point is, seems like Ben has no original ideas, he has snatched even this one. P.S. Of course, the article had nothing to do with "electric Universe" or "death cycle".
