Such cyclist stereotypes and culture is not a thing outside English speaking world. However, bad press does play role in other countries too, and some dumb muppets fall for it. Like once I was cycling back home on a sidewalk, street at that place is really narrow, but there is a lot of place on a walk, besides I prefer them anyway. A corpulent, bet relatively young lady (in her 30s or early 40s maybe) was walking towards me, then she suddenly sidesteps almost in front of me and says: "I'm walking here!" So what? Should have said to her something like: "It's not my fault you are a lonely fat cow!" XD
If one wants to get in a fight, that person should first think about cyclist likely being pretty fit, and bicycle itself can be used not just as a shield, but even as a weapon, maybe not as a very handy one, but those are still some 15 or more kilos of metal. Even I am at pretty good shape, despite being handicapped, to some degree a bicycle so far serves to me as a substitute for a wheelchair - I can walk on my own, just not far and not fast - my "batteries run dry" after some time of walking, and I have to stop or sit to "recharge" (multiple sclerosis has damaged my spinal cord), and cycling basically allows me to move while sitting.
