  4. That "Germans themselves suck Bismarck" is older than the Internet. I recall reading claims around similar lines in then Soviet pop-sci magazine back in 1990 or 1991.

  5. And yes, even modern powders get less tame with time, as flegmatiser (sorry, I don't know if this term is used in English too) evaporates, and such ammo starts to get sharper kick. Like shotgun shells, which are not new, will have more recoil and, if a gun is not in good order, might even rip a side of a barrel open or make a cartoonish "daisy" out of a barrel (muzzle or chamber, depends on how bad luck one has), but it's extremely rare.

  7. Whitehead vs. Schwarzkopf, seriously? If this was not happening in real life, people would say "this scenario is unrealistic(!)" as "Schwarzkopf" means "Blackhead" in German.

Found a table of ordnance accidents which occurred in 1914-1918, it mentions 4 British (HMS Bulwark; HMS Natal; HMS Vanguard; HMS Glatton), 2 Italian (Benedetto Brin; Leonardo di Vinci), 2 Japanese (Tsukuba; Kawachi), 1 Russian (Imparatritza Maria) and 1 Chilean (Capitan Prat) Navy ship. I guess Japanese losses are closely related to British, as in early XX century they were cooperating, like being allies during Russo-Japanese war. Table specifically mentions cordite explosions.
