The Car Care Nut

Comments by "TotalRookie_LV" (@TotalRookie_LV) on "Why do Toyota engines consume oil ? And how to prevent it?" video.
Since I got an old used car (not even "Toyota"), I'm planning to do oil changes every 7000-8000 km (4400-5000 miles) with so called flushing, which supposedly removes at least some fouling from rings and oiling system (a chemical is added to the old oil, engine is then run for some 40 minutes before dumping the old oil), not gonna do it myself, I leave it to professionals. Currently after an oil change it ran fine for around 3500km (2175 miles), then started to consume around 250-300 grams of oil per 1000km (that's like 1/3 - 1/2 of a quart per 600 miles, so something like 3/4 quart per 1000 miles). P.S. Oh, not every change then? OK, will see how it goes.

1 US liquid quart per 1200 miles = 490ml per 1000km, or lets round it up to 0,5l, thus a 1l oil bottle should suffice for 2000km. For reference, my nearly 20 years old AUDI with 1st gen aluminium alloy V6 engine block (those engines are famous for being thirsty for oil) is consuming around 260-310ml per 1000km.
