Funny to look back at this two years later.

@Owais-Ali Да неужели?! What do you do, ir an adversary has S300 or even S400? Well, the usual stuf - jam it and keep hitting targets, like Israel does in Syria, which as Russians claim "is all covered" by their AA systems. BTW, now it's April of 2019 and US just moved several F35s to Middle East just this week.

@Owais-Ali And that's awasome, as it would provide NATO an opportunity to test capabilities of S400 radar and to find ways to evade and suppress those systems. Thus I'm all for it! I mean, before western countries had to find ways to get to Soviet planes and tanks through third parties, but there Russians themselves are giving that stuff away. Perfect!

@clayr6264 Who's economy USA crushed? What load of BS is that? Neither Turkey nor Russia has all that important economic ties to US, instead they both are deeply integrated with Europe. Even in my hometown a while ago most of the buses were made in Turkey.

@clayr6264 "..Because of the chronic inflation experienced in Turkey from the 1970s through to the 1990s..." "..This represented an average inflation of about 38% per year..." (I gather, that was data from 1966 to 2001) Doesn't seem like just some crisis in diplomacy, more like problems in economics, maybe politics too, as invasion of Northern Cyprus surely din't made their currency more stable. Many countries went through this in more or less the same period, Israel too introduced a now Shekel IIRC that was in 1980s.

@Owais-Ali Supress what? "Supress" aeroplanes? I'm not entirely sure such sentence makes sense in English.
1
@Owais-Ali No, this is how an access to an area may be denied or restricted, it's not "supression". Besides stealth planes do not casually fly over radars anyway, steals doesn't make them invisible (only Russoans call them that - "невидимка), only harder to detect.

@Owais-Ali No, but I do speak Russian fluently and most of my Internet friends are guys from Russia (not all of them Russians by ethnicity) or Russian speaking guys from other countries. My wife is of local Russians, since nearly 1/3 of people in my country speak Russian as their first language (not me)

@Owais-Ali I'm a bit idiosyncratic to "victories" in discussions. I can persuade someone, if I'm right. I can get something new to me and change my opinion (until 2008-2009 I was a climate skeptic, but then I met guys, who really have numbers on their side, not BS about conspiracy of scientists). or we may both go our own way. IMO, "winning" or "losing" is a dubious concept here. And.. well, I sort of have Facebook. It's UI sucks, so it's there mostly used to login into mobile games some years ago and nearly abandoned since. Almost. Now it's used to log crap that people say to me on "World of Tanks" private messages after the game. XD

Ian Brown Yeah, but back then manh guys were walking the same path, Mikoyan of Soviet MiG (Mikoyan - Gurevich design bureau) also believed that future planes will be like rockets with miniscule wings, with almost no maneuvrability needed, just speed. F-104 was exactly that.
