Besides there are movies like "Good Will Hunting" and various tillers, detectives and sci-fi, where being smart and educated is a must, imagine uneducated and dumb Clarice Starling, it's impossible! However, you are mostly right - way too often smart people are not even nerds, they are portrayed as complete dorks.
